Description
Monet loved painting en plein air (outdoors) and his conversion of a boat into a floating studio allowed him to do this.
He moored it on the Seine River in Argenteuil where he lived at the time and made paintings of the river and surrounding landscape.
This image is a prime example of his impressionistic style, there is a focus on the light and colour of the natural landscape. Brushmarks are visible in the fluid reflections on the water, it demonstrates his motivation to convey visual sensations directly from nature,
