Description

Monet was drawn to the coastline and made a number of paintings in his early career of Sainte-adresse, a seaside town close to where he grew up.
This image captures the essence of this coastal town.
Three figures in the boat are huddled together, the clouds in the dusky pink sky are slowly lifting giving way to light which glimmers on the seashore in the foreground.
The natural beauty of this coastline which he knew so well expertly captured with fleeting effects of light and colour.
